Second Hand News

Good morning!  I am not sure why I am so chipper.  Last night was kind of the pits.  I think I overdid it yesterday with too much activity.  That is exactly why Dr. Campbell wanted me to stay in the hospital for 2 nights.  She is a wise and experienced doctor.  Anyways, I was up several times last night in pain.  Man, does this hurt.  Plan today is to lay low, stay in bed for most of the day, and take 3-4 short walks around the house.  And, I am going to keep up with my pain meds.  I need to stay put, which is hard for me to do.

Dr. Campbell called me last night with news about my final pathology results.  Great news is that there was no residual cancer in the breasts or lymph nodes.  Initially, it made me feel like I just did a huge surgery for nothing. But the margins on the biopsy were read as indeterminant, so I needed a wider excision.  And because of the location of the tumor, there was no way to do a lumpectomy.  And even if I could do a lumpectomy, then I would also have to do radiation.  And, my other breast would still impossible to image.  David had thought there was a possibility that she removed all of the cancer with the biopsy and the final path would be negative.  He was right again.  Smart guy, and cute too!  So, I still feel like I did the right thing, and I guess, there is no turning back now.  I was worried that there would be invasive cancer in the final path, and so I am glad there is not and I won't need chemo. That is great news. I am going to focus on that.

Last thing is that I don't know if anyone has noticed, but when David hijacked my blog, each title of his posts are also song titles.  I am trying to keep up with the creativity, but it is hard!  The title of this blog entry is "Second Hand News" by Fleetwood Mac.  We just saw them live at Jazzfest.  Man I wish I was there having fun instead of here in bed.

Can anyone name the musicians for the other titles??

I am glad to be back writing on my blog.  And still so glad to be home.  And glad that all is going well.  And so grateful for all of my wonderful family and friends.  Life is good.
Love,
Lauri

  1. Hi Laurie,
I have been lurking on your blog and missed a few days, so I am catching up. So happy to hear your results. I wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you and I am sending positive vibes your way
Secondly, I couldn't let a perfectly good music challenge go unanswered (I do love me a good musical quiz)... So I had to chime in. Lets see... There was some Segar, The La's, a Barry Manilow thrown in there for good measure, the beatles, crowded house (I may have missed one or two, but I think I did alright - kudos to David!
I hope you continue to feel better.
    Much Love
